Colorado Kids Calling

We had another Skype call to Mrs Cunningham in Berthoud, Colorado today, only this time she had some of her students with her. We had an interesting discussion, learning about snowball fights, favourite sports (most of them had never heard of cricket!) and talkin about the Sydney Opera House.

You can hear what we talked about here:

Thanks Mrs Cunningham and all of the lovely students at Berthoud for a lovely chat.

Lewis Burns

This morning we were lucky enough to have a visit from Aboriginal artist Lewis Burns. He spoke to us about his artwork and the symbols we often see in it. He also explained to us how the different sounds made when playing the didgeridoo could represent native Australian animals. such as a kangaroo, joey, galah and emu. He used the didgeridoo to tell us a story.

Projects Projects Projects!

We have spent most of this term working on Space projects. Our project could be a model, book, board game or PowerPoint.

Check out our terrific work!

Presentation Day

Today was our end of year Presentation Day, recognising all of the terrific achievements made by students at our school. The choir sang “Let’s Get Loud”, the band played “Jingle Bells,” “Funky Town,” “Advance Australia Fair” and the theme from “New York, New York”  and the dance troupe showed off how nimble they are to “People Are Strange”. There were lots of awards, especially for year six.

In our class we had some very special award winners. The 3S awards for 2010 went to:

Diya – for Academic Excellence
Maheeta - for Citizenship
Emily - for Achievement
Kaelan - for Improvement
Nikki - for ESL.

Congratulations to each of these award winners and all members of 3S in 2010.
