Check out the following Human Rights film. This is an awesome overview of the origins of Human Rights and the Declaration of Human Rights. Well worth a look for Year 10 as part of Australia in Its Regional and Global Contexts (NSW).
Also check out www.humanrights.com for a short film on each of the 30 human rights.
The Global Change topic is one of the best parts of the Stage 4 Geography syllabus (in my opinion) as it gets kids to think about others (which they are not used to doing!). I have used a number of resources with these classes which I thought might be useful to others. Some of these resources are probably more appropriate to Stage 3 groups but I found that with a little modification, I was able to tailor them to the needs of Year 8.

Now let’s face it. Introducing Latitude and Longitude to students isn’t always met with the greatest levels of excitement or enthusiasm. That where this cracka from Stormin Bob Swanson comes in!
This photo/audio presentation focuses on the lives of the Pemulung (scavengers) who call Jakarta’s Bantar Gebang Landfill home. This presentation could be used as a discussion starter with junior or senior Geographers – particularly when studying global inequality. Click here.
Thanks to all of those people who attended my session yesterday at TLSC The Entrance Campus. Not everything ran as smoothly as I would have liked due to a number of localised issues but we got there in the end. I appreciate your patience (especially those in Session 1!)
My presentation file is now available for download in the download section of this blog. Due to file size restrictions I have been unable to upload the gallery content that I referred to during the presentation. Please find this on the HCC Moodle Sandbox at http://hccweb2.org. You will need to login as a GUEST and then select HCC IWB Day. My session content can be found in the internet resources section.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you need further help.
Stumbled on this today while discussing Population change with my year 10 Geographers. The kids were fascinated by the increasing statistics on the clock and gave us sooooo much food for discussion about population change in Australia and the world. Highly recommended. (click here)
